Introduction
The Roswell incident is arguably the single most identifiable UFO related story in U.S. history. Any self-respecting UFO junkie worth his/her weight is familiar with the Roswell story on at least some level. For those that aren’t, this article should at the very least catch you up to speed on the basics. For those who are, please read on, as I have a few points that I would love to hear your feedback on. Think the UFO interpretation of the Roswell incident is nothing but a bunch of hogwash? Well we’d love to have your input as well. Post a response below and let us know why you think what you think.
I personally believe that there is something to this story. I’ll go ahead and get that out of the way right up front. Throughout the article I will pose some of the most popular questions that debunkers bring to light, and provide my own response(s) to them.
Once upon a time near Roswell, New Mexico
This whole story begins with a local rancher named Mac Brazell. In early July, 1974, Mr. Brazell heard a loud explosion during the night. Mr. brazel was a ranch foreman on the J.B. Foster sheep ranch, which was located some 70 miles north of Roswell, New Mexico. The next day Mr.
Brazel discovered some strange, metallic debris scattered throughout one of the pastures on the ranch. There does not seem to be any dispute over this fact of the Roswell incident. Mac Brazel did indeed discover some type of crash debris in one of the pastures of the Foster Ranch. What is in dispute, however, is where the crash debris originated:
A) Some believe the crash debris represent the remains of a crashed flying saucer which was not of this world
B) Some believe the crash debris came from some sort of secret militray project
On or around the morning of Sunday, July 6th, Mr. Brazel, while further investigating about 2 miles east of the original debris field, makes a second, and even more unbelievable discovery. Three small humanoid bodies lay before him, along with further wreckage similar to that he had already discovered. All of the humanoid creatures are dead at the time they are discovered by Brazel.
As the story line goes, Mac Brazel then reported his findings to Chaves County Sheriff George Wilcox. Wilcox in turn contacted the Roswell
Army Air Field and informed them of the discovery. This brings another major character of the Roswell incident into play. The military base intelligence officer who initially handled the case was Major Jesse Marcel. This is the gentleman who originally reported that the military had indeed recovered a crashed disc.
The Military Response
Major Jesse Marcel meets with sheriff Wilcox and Brazel, and Brazel brings him directly to the crash site so that he can view the wreckage first
hand. After confirming the existence of the wreckage, the military moves in and blocks access to highways that could be used to access the crash site. All wreckage is cleaned up and confiscated by the military. There are many rumors among first hand eye witnesses of dead and injured alien bodies at the wreckage site(s)…even some of a living alien being up and walking around under its own power.
A press release is given to local Roswell radio stations and newspapers that the Roswell Army Air Field had captured a downed flying saucer in the Roswell region. This press release was submitted by Lt. Walter Haut. The key factor here is that the military themselves issued a press release of a captured flying disc!
The debris from the Roswell incident is completely removed, and the Army then releases a story claiming that the entire thing was caused by a weather balloon. Yup – a weather balloon.
Over the years from then to now, the military changed the story several times.
